National 4-H Council's Youth in Action Awards recognize four young leaders each year, one in each of 4-H's pillar areas: agriculture, civic engagement, healthy living, and STEM. Each winner receives a $5,000 higher-education scholarship plus a year of professional and media training while serving as a national spokesperson for their program area. The next application cycle opens in January 2027.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must be 4-H members or alumni between the ages of 15 and 19. Candidates are judged on how they have used skills learned in 4-H to lead and create change in their communities within one of the four pillar areas. The application includes written storytelling about the applicant's 4-H experience.
