The National Merit Scholarship Program is an academic competition that begins when students take the PSAT/NMSQT as high school juniors. Finalists compete for one-time $2,500 National Merit Scholarships as well as corporate- and college-sponsored awards.
Eligibility Requirements
Students enter by taking the PSAT/NMSQT in the specified year of high school, usually the junior year, and meeting published entry requirements. Participants must be enrolled in high school, plan to enroll full time in college, and be U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents intending to become citizens.
