NIS Research Scholar Program is a $25,000 scholarship open to students nationwide. Full eligibility requirements are listed below.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicant is selected based on their academic credentials, language skills, need for in-country resources, quality of research proposal, letters of recommendation, and financial need forms. Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident demonstrating financial need. Application form, research proposal in English and in the host country language, and letters of recommendation are required to be submitted. Award is for individual research in the countries of the NIS (New Independent States): Armenia, Azerbaijan, Balarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan.
