The American Legion Auxiliary's Spirit of Youth Scholarship supports longtime ALA Junior members heading to college. Department-level winners receive $1,000, and five national recipients receive a $5,000 scholarship instead. Applications are due March 1 each year with no extensions.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must be high school seniors who have held American Legion Auxiliary membership for the past three consecutive years; ALA membership is tied to service in or family connection to the U.S. armed forces. A minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale is required. The application includes essay responses of at least 600 characters, transcripts, and two letters of recommendation from non-family members.
